Micro-credential Multiverse: This is micro-credential in a minute produced by Micro-Credential Multiverse.
Robert Bajor: hi, my name is Rob.
Sheryl Grant: And my name is Sheryl and we are micro-credential and digital badge experts.
Robert Bajor: Today, we're going to talk about the difference between a micro-credential and a digital badge. So I'm going to start by saying all micro-credentials are digital badges, but not all badges are micro-credentials. Digital badges are a more broad term, whereas micro-credentials specifically refer to a, a type of digital badge with special requirements in some places. So for example, there might be some requirements in Europe and Australia. There might be some standards that institutions need to follow to develop Micro-credentials.
Sheryl Grant: Ooh, I like that. I would say that with micro-credentials there's a greater emphasis on trust. They integrate with more dimensions of trust than say digital badges alone. And I think digital badges express a broader diversity when it comes to what we recognize and how. I think of micro-credentials as engaging more with legal regulatory and institutional constraints.
And even though not all micro-credentials use badging technology, which I find strange, most of them seem to be using a lot of the badging technology.
